Jos Devriendt: I AM I

My design process always starts with an abstract form.

The power of the form is very ancient and primal, which means I reshape history into our time. Once the form is captured, I investigate the possibliites of making it into a functional object. Dimensions change, materials and ergonomics are being tested.

Sometimes it seems impossible to make a design based on the abstract power. At that point, my research stops or slows down. Occasionnally somebody else did the same study somewhere else in this world. This is the force of universal art and its true meaning. 

An object becomes art if both meaning and function of the object are equally important.
