Trois Ellipses Ouvertes en Desordre is the latest site specific work by Swiss artist Felice Varini. Created for De Unie Hasselt-Genk in Hasselt, Belgium and on view from June 21st to October 5th, 2014, Varini's piece covers the roofs and facades of 99 buildings in the city center. From street level the painted strips are fragmented and appear seemingly random, but when viewed from a carefully chosen vantage point the painted strips create a picture of overlapping rings.
“The painted form achieves its coherence when the viewer stands at the vantage point," said Varini. "When he moves out of it, the work meets with space generating infinite vantage points on the form."
