Color Diaries

Color Diaries is about the interaction of color, form, and space–a narrative of upholstered furniture from the French 1960s and 70s, a design period marked by rounded forms, curves, angles, openings, colors, and textures, incorporated into the interiors of modern architecture. Innovative designers like Joseph-André Motte, Pierre Paulin, and Olivier Mourgue brought these elements together to contrast with the strict architecture of the times, and inject softness and comfort to humanize the space.
The exhibition presents a curated color field in three-dimensional soft forms–a visual story of the sensory perception of color. With miniature blocks, visitors are encouraged to engage in an act of color play, to discover and experiment with the juxtaposition of color and create color combinations guided by their own personal associations.
