At Design Miami/Basel 2008, Demisch Danant is pleased to present selected works by: Pierre Guariche, Pierre Paulin, Antoine Phillipon and Jacqueline Lecoq, Michel Mortier
Highlights include Pierre Paulin's 'Cathedral Table,' designed in 1981. Originally intended as an edition of 30, only 3 examples were produced. The complexity of the aluminum base coupled with the rarity of the piece make this one of Paulin's most significant later works. Another rare piece, Pierre Paulin's Low Table with Interior Light, designed in 1971 for the private apartments of President George Pompidou in the Palais Elysee, Paris, will also be on view. Examples of Paulin's now iconic seating units will be on display as well.
In addition to Pierre Paulin, examples of early 1960's French design will be on view. The purity of form and refined use of materials, common for French design from the period, will be evident in works of Rene Jean Caillette, Pierre Guariche, Joseph Andre Motte and Antoine Phillipon and Jacqueline Lecoq.
