Demisch Danant | Fall in Paris
Demisch Danant is thrilled to announce a season of Parisian happenings, taking place this fall in continued celebration of French excellence in design. The gallery will participate in the inaugural edition of Design Miami/ Paris — our debut fair in France, from October 17 through 22. Having played a foundational role in the inception of the Miami and Basel editions, we are elated to accompany the Design Miami/ team in this milestone. Our booth will feature a selection of rare and significant French designs from the late 1960’s — a testament to our long-standing advocacy of this period. Alongside the booth presentation, the gallery will take part in the fair's 'Design at Large' program with a presentation by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance's Lisbon-based studio, Made in Situ. Entrusted with imagining the fair’s Media Room, the contemporary French designer will present a selection from his Azulejos and Burnt Cork collections. This showcase will echo his Made in Situ exhibition taking place that week at his own showroom in the Bastille neighborhood.
In tandem with Design Miami/ Paris, between October 16 and November 4, we will debut our Galleries in Residence program. As part of this collaborative exchange, our curatorial program will take over the iconic Galerie Anne-Sophie Duval space across from the Louvre, presenting a selection of around fifty pieces from the 1950-1970’s, honoring the era of French design that we’ve been championing for the last twenty years. To complement the exhibition, contemporary artist Jean-Baptiste Caron will transform the gallery's window display around the corner, on rue Bonaparte, with a multi-media, site-specific installation. In return, Galerie Anne-Sophie Duval will inhabit our New York location from November 8 to December 10, with an evocative selection of ceramics by the late Vassil Ivanoff, displayed in an environment that embodies the gallery’s distinct taste and enduring commitment to the Art Deco period over the past fifty years.
From October 16-23, Demisch Danant will also co-present an exhibition of Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, at the designer’s Parisian showroom. On the heels of his participation in this summer’s edition of the Design Parade festival, Duchaufour-Lawrance will present pieces from his Made in Situ collections, including Barro Negro, Bronze & Beeswax, and the latest release, Chêne & Liège.
Finally, Demisch Danant will take part in FAB Paris | Fine Art Paris La Biennale, now restructured as a global-reaching multidisciplinary fair, from November 22-26. This participation not only reflects our aspiration to continue exhibiting in Paris and connecting with the French audience, but it also allows us to proudly continue interweaving our art collection within our overarching program.
