These chairs were designed for the Maison de la Culture of Firminy, built by architect Le Corbusier.

Built between 1961 and 1965, the Maison de la Culture of Firminy in France is the only building achieved during Le Corbusier’s life time.

Part of a larger program initiated by Eugene Claudius-Petit in 1954 and supported by André Malraux Ministre of the Culture in the early 60’s, the "Firminy Vert" program including several other buildings. This is the second largest architectural urban project after Chandigarh in India developed by Le Corbusier.

The furniture in the building was designed by Pierre Guariche, a designer working with the Modular, a unit of measure introduced by Le Corbusier to create harmony and proportions adapted to the human scale.

Classified as Monument Historique since 1984, La Maison de la Culture of Firminy is protected and also part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2016.
